چکیده
In light of the need for detailed and timely internationally comparable trade price indices, this paper describes a multi-tiered methodology to mitigate many empirical challenges associated with using customs data, provide more robust estimates unit value indices (UVIs) by country product. UVIs are available both exports imports, reporting CPA 2-digit level classification. Although approach cannot capture changes in quality products nor compositional happening at lower than HS 6-digit classification, results indicate that higher levels aggregation (SITC 1-digit level), estimated closely follow obtained from other sources. This is observed significant rapid changes, such as hi-tech products, low rate commodities, primary low-tech goods. Furthermore, where little change occurs over time show similarity between sources disaggregation. The used produce Merchandise Trade Price Index data made publically on .Stat under International Balance Payments heading.

This paper measures the response of bilateral trade flows to differences in industrial energy prices across countries. Using a panel for the period 1996-2011 including 42 countries, 62 sectors and covering 60% of global merchandise trade, we estimate the short-run effects of sector-level energy price asymmetry on trade. We find that changes in relative energy prices have a statistically signifi...
